About Brian Kirchoff

Restlessly creative is how I describe myself. Probably explains my varied career in numerous creative-type fields; broadcast, on-camera, graphic development and design, computer based training, programming, voice overs, and of course, painting.
For as long as I can remember I've looked at things from an artistic standpoint. The awareness that almost anything could be captured in a frame (if possible) and displayed as art, and someone somewhere would appreciate it. I've always had that. My eye seeks out the patterns, the colors, contrasts, subtle value differences, bold lines, the whimsical and the downright ridiculous. I see these things every single day in and around my home here in St. Louis, MO. The world is an inspiration if we just take the time to see it as it really is. This explains my artwork and how I view our world aesthetically.
Art, and abstract art specifically, takes many, many forms, As you'll see in my gallery, my works range from the minimalistic to the dramatic. You'll see movement and energy throughout much of my work, as those characteristics are what I often like to focus on. Are there stories behind what I do? Occasionally, but not always. My paintings tend to result from how I feel at a specific moment in time, not necessarily a laid out plan. I'm motivated by all sorts of things; patterns, energy, flow, contrasts, similarities, emotions, the list goes on and on. I try and capture these various qualities on canvas to share with you.
Thanks to all who stopped by my booth at the Edwardsville Art Fair 2021! Great seeing you and talking art!
