Artist Statement
I am mostly a self-taught artist. I paint an abstracted version of nature as well as purely non- objective works. I have no concept in mind when I begin a painting. I use acrylics , oil pastels, charcoal, markers and pencils. I begin by mixing colors directly on a panel, canvas or paper with a palette knife or other tool, manipulate the paint and add marks until shapes begin to emerge. I respond intuitively to their lead until I have a clear direction to follow. I build up multiple layers of paint to develop colors and texture, translucency and opaqueness.
My art has been accepted for juried art shows at Art Saint Louis and at the St Louis Artist Guild.
